Dr. Lauren Carcara graduated from the Auburn University College of Veterinary Medicine in 2007. She has been working at the Shelbyville Road Veterinary Clinic in Louisville, Kentucky for the past 15 years, where she is currently the medical director. For seven of those years, she also worked as senior emergency clinician at BluePearl Veterinary Partners. She currently is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association, the Kentucky Veterinary Medical Association, and the Greater Louisville Veterinary Medical Association. She is also a Fear Free certified practitioner. Dr. Carcara and her husband share their home with Geno, a three-legged cat; Brooks, a Golden Retriever mix; and Saoirse, an Australian Cattle Dog. In her spare time, she enjoys cheering on the Pittsburgh Penguins and Steelers, playing ice hockey, traveling, and reading a good book in her hammock. Dr. Carcara also competes in scent work and agility with her Australian Cattle Dog.
