Dr. Chip Coombs, DVM

A graduate of the Ontario Veterinary College in 1976, Dr. Chip Coombs initially practised in England, where he received his MRCVS from the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons. He later worked in the United States and Western Canada in Equine and Small Animal Medicine, before joining Eglinton Veterinary Facilities in Toronto. He was owner of this multi-veterinarian, 22 staff small animal hospital for 32 years. Dr. Coombs has authored many scientific articles for veterinary journals, as well as writing for numerous pet magazines and newspapers, including his own syndicated column. He has also appeared on many TV and radio programs. Over the past 46 years, Dr. Coombs has volunteered much of his time serving on a variety of executive boards both within and outside of the profession. Within the profession, this has included Executive Boards and Committees for the Toronto Academy of Veterinary Medicine, the Ontario Veterinary Medical Association, the Canadian Veterinary Medical Association, the Ontario Veterinary College, the University of Guelph and the College of Veterinarians of Ontario. He has been and is still actively consulting with numerous national and international pharmaceutical and veterinary industry corporations. He has received various awards during his career, including the Distinguished Veterinarian Award from the Ontario Veterinary Medical Association and the Ontario Veterinary College’s Veterinary Volunteer Award.
